SCP operates three laboratories in Les Milles (13), France, each of them specialised and accredited in its field of expertise. Their services are available to both public and private clients :


The Water Analysis Laboratory

for physico-chemical analyses of clean and waste waters :


This laboratory specialises in the sampling and analysis of water required for the efficient operation of infrastructures.


It is equipped to perform the full range of physico-chemical analyses on fresh surface and subterrannean water, waste water, industrial discharges and drinking water.


The Water Analysis Laboratory is COFRAC-accredited, Testing (accreditation no. 1-1192), scope available on and has been approved by the MEDDTL (Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing) for physico-chemical analyses and trace-metal research on clean and waste water (programme 100-1).


The Water Analysis Laboratory offers the following services :

  • sampling and in situ measurements,
  • flow measurements and piezometric readings,
  • water analyses,
  • technical assistance : impact studies of discharges into the natural environment, monitoring of water quality in rivers and water tables, treatment of municipal and industrial clean and waste waters,
  • industrial discharge controls.

The Water Analysis Laboratory uses state-of-the-art technology allowing for standardised testing : mercury analyser, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, chromatograph, UV/VIS spectrometer.

The Geotechnical and Concrete Laboratory

for geotechnical tests on soil, rock and mechanical tests on concrete,


This laboratory carries out geotechnical missions, with a view to qualifying soil for construction of facilities.


It contributes to studies for the construction of SCP’s own facilities (reserves, reservoirs, dikes, platforms and backfills, buildings, etc.). It uses state-of-the-art instruments allowing for standardised testing : triaxial tests, direct shear tests, compressibility tests using odometers, compression tests on rocks and concrete, rock mechanics, permeameters (soils).


The Geotechnical and Concrete Laboratory operates in all areas of civil engineering, and particularly in the following fields :

  • in-situ sampling,
  • analysis of soils, rocks and concretes,
  • technical assistance,
  • geotechnical investigation (definition, monitoring, in-situ and laboratory testing),
  • sizing of foundation structures,
  • improvement of soil characteristics (compacting, draining, consolidation, etc.),
  • road-related geotechnics,
  • specific studies (construction on soft or swelling soils, etc.).

The Hydraulic Measurements Laboratory

for calibration of meters and flowmeters, performance testing for hydraulic materials, and physical model testing.


This laboratory can conduct tests and calibrations for either manufacturers or utility operators. It benefits from a water supply with a high flow rate (5,400 m3/h) under a high static pressure (16 bars), and very wide test lines able to accommodate up to DN 1,200 mm. The laboratory also handles procedures for obtaining authorisations, and produces test reports for different materials.


Since 1996, the Hydraulic Measurements Laboratory has been COFRAC-accredited, Calibration (accreditation no. 2-1258) for « liquid flow measurement » in the 35 m3/h – 5,400 m3/h flow range, detailed scope available on


The laboratory’s hydraulics and measurements specialists are qualified to conduct a wide range of tests, including calibration of meters, flowmeters and other devices, hydraulic scale modelling, and the optimisation and performance testing of hydromechanical materials.


A 650 m2 platform supplied with a 500 l/s flow has been specially designed to accommodate physical scale models : dam spillways, river intakes, scouring of structural bases, vessels, energy-dissipating wells, siphons, discharge facilities, etc.
